Top brass band is now girls allowed for Laura - Manchester Evening

A musician has made history by becoming the first woman to get a place in an all-male brass band. Cornet player Laura Hirst, 27, from Uppermill, is the first woman to join the ranks of Brighouse and Rastrick Band in its 130-year history.
