Vintage ORIGINAL 19th Century edition of "The Verbalist" by Alfred Ayers. c. 1881 by D. Appleton & Company "The Verbalist: A Manual devoted to brief discussions of the right and the wrong use of words and some other matters of interest to those who would speak and write with propriety." Nice, original 19th century copy in great vintage condition. 4-1/2" x 6-1/4" hard cover. 220 pristine gilt edge pages with decorated end pages. Has been pre-owned but has no names, no marks. No Dust Jacket , as issued, the dark brown cloth boards are gilt lettered on front and spine. Some wear to corners and both ends of spine.
