Rare cobbler's hammers. Probably from the 1800s, these are being offered as a pair, and you get both for $48 with FREE shipping. The heads are cast metal, hand made by a blacksmith, and they have dings and dents and patina from 100 or more years of use. The handles are probably maple, possibly oak, and they have that lovely smooth wood feel from decades of use. They are in remarkable condition given their age, they are solid, sturdy, and perfectly functional. The head on the thin one wiggles and easily comes off the shaft. Nice find. The smaller of the shoemaker's hammers measures about 7 1/4" long and 3 3/8" deep and offers a round striking surface about 1 5/16" in diameter. The longer of the hammers measures 9 7/8" long and 3 1/4" deep and has a mostly round textured striking surface about 7/16" in diameter, and it has "802" painted on the handle in red paint.
