This is an African elephant. An elephant uses its trunk like a hand. It uses its trunk to pick up food and wash itself with water. A baby elephant often uses its trunk to hold onto its mother's tail. Elephants are herbivores; they eat things like hay, grass and other plants. Elephants spend most of their lives traveling across the savanna. Photo by Jeremy Woodhouse
