Intel has officially announced the new Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition, the company’s first true octa-core desktop CPU. Naturally, you expect this to trickle down from the Xeon line-up as has been the case for Intel's Extreme processors for the last few generations. Also popularly codenamed as the Haswell-E processor, Intel will also launch X99 chipset that is the next generation chipset to support the new processor.
