The 44 Carrier Bag is directly inspired by tote bag sold to the public for only 3 months in 1944. A famed Maine outdoor outfitter produced the original version at the height of WW2 and offered it for sale in a singular season mail order catalog . It is unknown if the bag was discontinued due to war time material shortages. Having obtained the only known example of the original, I immediately knew that subtle, but interesting design elements and utility of the bag would resonate 73 years later.
